Vision Resources

Did you know?

Vision problems have been shown to adversely affect a child’s achievement in school as well as their ability to enjoy learning.

If your child has received a vision referral, check with your health insurance company regarding coverage for optometry visits and glasses.

The School Health Coordinator or your school nurse will be able to provide the name and location of the closest optometrist.

Tenncare will cover:

·        The cost of one optometry visit/ vision exam

·        One pair of glasses

·        One replacement pair, in the event the original pair has been lost or broken.

If you do not have health insurance or are unable to cover the cost of an optometry visit/ glasses, please let your school nurse know. Scholarships for students in need of a vision exam and glasses are available from a local civics club. The School Health Coordinator or your school nurse will be able to help you connect with resources.
